I spent 12+ years in pharma and biotech—in talent development and organizational psychology roles at companies like AstraZeneca, Covance, and Emergent BioSolutions.
I sat in the talent review meetings where promotion decisions are made. I built leadership development programs and advised on leadership potential. I know how the system actually works—not how it's supposed to work.
I saw brilliant, high-performing women consistently overlooked because they didn't know how to position their expertise strategically. Women doing the work of the next level without the visibility or credibility to advance. Women stuck in the "reliable workhorse" role while less capable colleagues advanced through strategic positioning.
